In search of a church home My search for a church home began today. I’ve been reading the word and it compels me to find a church that is right not only for me but for my daughter as well. To put it simply, I need God’s word for the week. More importantly, to have my heart and spirit in the right place, I need childcare for Anjolique while I worship. So today, for my FIRST church, I would attend First Calvary Baptist Church by myself. Anjolique is with her father this weekend so I took the opportunity. Let me also preface that religion is a relationship between God and myself. No one else. I am at a place in my life where I feel the need honor Him through worship and fellowship instead of what I have been proclaiming for the past several years of honoring Him only in my heart and spirit. Please respect that. Take a look at their website: http://www.firstcalvary.org/. After the two-hour service, I thought it was alright. They believe in excellence which I agree. The children well well-behaved, read the church announcement well and it was a packed house. Granted it was a 10a.m. church service. My goal is to attend an earlier service than that if possible. As normal procedure, he had visitors stand up and let the church welcome them. Is it the right church for me? I am not sure. The message this morning was Preparation. As we prepare our homes for the Christmas holidays, we must also prepare our homes and lives to God. Amen. God’s child, lm |
