World Overcomers Christian Church My neighbor “Fafa” recommended this church (WOCC) to me while we were jog-walking yesterday morning. It is conveniently located in RTP. After our 1.5 mile jog-walk this morning, I decided thtat I would go to their 10a.m. church service. The weather was freezing cold. I quickly made breakfast for my daughter and friend then we got ready for church. We arrive in church right on time-eh give or take 5-10 minutes. After I registered her for childcare for two-year-olds (Awesome Wonders group), I scurried to church service. Take a preview at http://www.pastorandy.com/home.php WOW! There were blasting music coming from the congregation and church singers and when I entered, there were lyrics and bible verses that were displated in addition to live video feed. The ushers were dressed in nice shirts with their church logos. Pastro Andy came in. Fafa had mentioned he was a young pastor. Which I liked. He was also married. Which I can respect. In the middle of service, a number “450″ popped up in all three screens. I am unclear as to what that number signifies. Does it signify 450 congregants that day? I am almost quite sure that it was not the tithes and offerings. I like this church. I will even attend Wednesday’s cantata service with Anjo on 12/19. It is a come-as-you are church. I wore pants actually. I hate to be defined by wearing a skirt and putting a handkerchief over my legs. They welcomed me and each visitor were given a hand-out to be exchanged for a dvd package from the church’s bookstore- so you know I really like this church. To my surprise, there were not that many visitors so he has build a solid based congreations. This soon-to-be- megachurch is only four years old! When I picked up Anjo, she had done an arts and crafts activity. Before we exited the building, I asked the lady if they had daycare services for the 8a.m. service, she answered yes. I will try for the 8a.m. service one Sunday soon. Anjo seemed to like the daycare (she didn’t fuss when I left her there for the first time and was sufficed to leave). We left feeling good. In summary, the church was simplified in a revisionist way. 20 minutes of song and praise followed by tithes and offering then Pastor Andy’s sermon. After another song at the end of his sermon (Finding Fullness in Joy- or something close to that), we were dismissed. One of the main points of his sermon that touched my spirit was when he said that we should be joyful with just ebing obedient (without wanting something in return). Amen to that! God’s child, lm |
